Using ChatGPT for Amazon, here's how!

Using ChatGPT for Amazon, here's how!

AI, or artificial intelligence, was only known to a small part of the population a few years ago. Many people did not understand what it exactly entailed and did. Nowadays, you can't ignore it. ChatGPT opened the world of AI to the general public, but have you ever wondered how you can use this AI assistant to elevate your Amazon sales? In this blog, you'll read about several ways you can use this tool, and we'll show you one of the ways we use ChatGPT.

Creating a good product title

An option that is quite obvious is having ChatGPT create product titles. Since speed is one of ChatGPT's strengths, multiple variants of product titles can be generated quickly.
Where we as online marketers have to constantly think about what exactly we want in the product title and what good synonyms are for that one important keyword, ChatGPT can generate this in seconds. This can significantly speed up and simplify the process of optimizing and coming up with different variants of product titles.

It's important to keep in mind that the instructions to the AI tool (or the prompt) must be as specified and clear as possible.
The general rule that applies to all use of ChatGPT is;

“The better the input, the better the output.”

If you don't get the desired outcome, try asking it in a different way or be more specific. A tip we can give here is to ask ChatGPT what information is needed to best answer the input instruction.

Important things to include in your prompt are:
– Important keywords
– Specific product features, such as color, size, and quantity
– Benefits of the product
– The audience the product is suitable for
– The maximum length of the title

Tip: always ask for at least 5 to 10 variants so you can combine the best titles yourself or use them directly for an A/B test.

If you're lacking inspiration or suffering from “writer's block,” ChatGPT can help you come up with and optimize product titles.

Product descriptions and bullet points

One of the most time-consuming tasks is writing a good product description and coming up with at least 5 good bullet points. You have to describe the product in different ways. Mention the main benefits, but also see how to incorporate all important keywords and synonyms into the text and bullet points.
Fortunately, ChatGPT can save you a lot of time and almost completely take over this task. Think not only about writing a product description but also optimizing existing texts. Again, it applies – and we can't say it enough – the more specific you indicate what you want, the better the outcome from ChatGPT will be.

Here's a brief overview of the points you should definitely include in your prompt:
– The main product features
– The keywords you want to incorporate into your description
– What problem the product solves for the customer
– How the customer can use the product
– Detailed product information, such as size, materials, color, quantity, etc.
– The target audience for this product
– Format of the output: think of bullet points of at least 150 characters and a product description of up to 2,000 characters.
– Ask for multiple variants so you can choose the best one yourself

Another important tip is to proofread the text yourself. Despite the fact that ChatGPT does very well in most cases, it still happens regularly that grammatical errors or awkward things appear in the bullet points or product description. So don't blindly copy the text to Amazon, but make sure you know what's in the text. Also, watch out for words or statements that are not allowed by Amazon, such as “best price, best deal, free,” etc..
If you meet the above conditions, this can save you a lot of time in optimizing and writing a good product description and accompanying bullet points for your Amazon listing.

The above methods are already regularly used by sellers on Amazon, but there are many more possibilities to make ChatGPT work for you. Do you want to know what the latest trends are in the field of SEO in combination with AI? You can read about it here.

ChatGPT & Amazon – practical application

Now it's time for the real work. How do we as an agency use ChatGPT to make our clients' product pages even better? In short, we're going to use ChatGPT to conduct a competitive analysis with a focus on reviews. Then we'll use our competitors' reviews to improve our own listings and address the needs of customers who shop on Amazon.

Step 1 – requirements

Before we start, you of course need access to ChatGPT via https://chat.openai.com/. At the moment, ChatGPT is still free, but the new version (4.0) is already paid, and we don't know if the free version will remain available in the future. If the free version disappears in the future, we definitely recommend the paid version.

In addition to ChatGPT, you also need a tool to quickly analyze competitors' reviews. This can be done with Jungle Scout or Helium10. Of course, you can also do this manually, but it takes considerably more time. For documenting the data from the various reviews, we use Excel or an online Spreadsheet.

Step 2 – determine competition and collect data
Now that we've mentioned all the tools, we can really get started! First, determine the top 10 competitors for your specific product. We often already have a good idea of this because we regularly conduct competitive research. It's important that the competitors also have enough reviews. You will collect 20 to 50 reviews per competitor, which together form one dataset. Ultimately, you do this for all 10 of your competitors, so you have between 200 and 500 reviews in the various datasets. The more data, the better. If you have the opportunity to include 50 reviews in one dataset, don't miss that chance! It may take a bit more work, but the more data you let ChatGPT analyze, the better the results will be.
If you have no idea who your competitors are, search for one of the most relevant keywords for your product on Amazon and take the top 10 products. Make sure to exclude “Sponsored” items and Amazon's own brand from Amazon. Focus on products with a relatively high number of reviews.

Step 3 – datasets
Then open all 10 competitors in a new tab or window and use your tool to collect the reviews. If you don't have access to a tool, scroll down and select “newest reviews.” This way, you don't have to deal with old buyers and possibly other sellers. Then cut and paste these reviews one by one into an Excel or Spreadsheet file. Do this separately for each competitor so you can keep the datasets well separated. Once you have filled all Excel files with the available data, go to ChatGPT and enter the following prompt:

[Your product name] Amazon reviews dataset [number]:

And then paste all the descriptive data from the reviews below and press enter. ChatGPT will then start generating, but that's not necessary for us. We don't have an extra assignment. It's best to click on “Stop generating.”

Then continue with the second dataset in the same way with the following prompt:

[Your product name] Amazon reviews dataset 2:

[Insert descriptive data from the reviews of dataset 2 here]

Until you have entered 20 datasets in ChatGPT. You don't need to look at the content of the reviews. ChatGPT will process the content, regardless of whether the spelling is correct or the reviews are written in another language.

Step 4 – the prompt

Then enter the following prompt in the same ChatGPT window:

I have just uploaded [number of reviews] Amazon reviews for [your product name]. Collect and analyze all product reviews together and answer the following questions:

  1. After analyzing the data, what notable insights can you identify?
  2. What are the five main pain points customers experience with these products, ranked in order of urgency?
  3. What are the seven most valuable benefits customers derive from these products, ranked in order of relevance?
  4. For which occasions or events are these products mainly purchased, based on priority?
  5. If you were to design the ultimate [insert your product] on earth, what concrete and strategic features would you integrate to make this product the best-selling in the world? What is the reasoning behind this?
  6. What type of packaging would be most suitable and why?
  7. What material would you recommend for use in production, and what is the motivation for this?
  8. What compact, lightweight extra products could we add to enhance and surprise the customer experience? Are there also digital products we can implement to make the purchase experience even better?
  9. Do you see any other intriguing insights that might be valuable for me?
  10. Are there important questions I am not currently asking, but that we should consider to gain better insight?

This will give you unique insights, with ChatGPT having analyzed the reviews and knowing exactly what customers want and what issues they encounter with competitors. In short, very valuable information that you can use for multiple purposes.

How to use this data?

You can use this valuable data not only directly for your titles, bullet points, and product descriptions but also for product improvements or to generate possible ideas for new products.

Although the data can be used for multiple purposes, we mainly look at how we can use this data to create good bullet points. We do this by providing ChatGPT with some extra information about our product. We answer the following questions ourselves or together with our client:

1. Name what is unique about the product. What makes the product distinctive/better than the competition?

  1. What material is it made of? Why was this chosen?
  2. What color is it? Why that color?
  3. What type of packaging is used? What is the reason for this?
  4. Add other important details about your product that you would like ChatGPT to know.

Then enter the following prompt in the same ChatGPT window:

Thank you for the information. Here is some information about the Amazon product I plan to sell:

[Enter the answers to the above questions here]

Based on the 10 things customers appreciate most about this product (in order), please write 21 Amazon bullet points that meet the following requirements, at least 3 different bullet points for each benefit for my [insert your product] as I described earlier in this message.

  1. When writing the points, act as if you are the best e-commerce copywriter in the world.

No one writes more convincing and seductive bullet points than you, you are the very best.

  1. The goal of these bullet points is to convince Amazon shoppers to buy my product over any other option from the competitors.

The points should be so convincing that shoppers want to buy immediately because they want the product so much.

The bullet points should be smooth, catchy, creative, seductive, and convince to buy based on the data from your analysis of the Amazon reviews.

  1. The format should be:

The benefits in capital letters with features to support the benefits.

  1. Each bullet point should be between 180 and 250 characters.

Each bullet point should be longer than 180 characters.

Each bullet point should be shorter than 250 characters.

  1. Add the text “ADD TO CART NOW” to the end of bullet point #3.
  2. Where it seems logical, add highly searched, relevant keywords to the bullet points. Ensure that the bullet points sound natural and professional. Do not just stuff the keywords into the bullet points without reason.

[Add 3 to 5 relevant keywords yourself]

Write for me the 7 most convincing Amazon bullet points that exist!

With this prompt, you create the best bullet points based on the available data. Additionally, adding a “call to action” can have a positive effect on the conversion rate. That's why it's smart to add “add to cart now” to the third bullet point.
We deliberately choose the third bullet point because it is often the last visible one without having to click further.

If the outcome of the written bullet points is not to your liking, you can of course ask ChatGPT to make them more professional or more attractive. Then ChatGPT will start working on rewriting new bullet points for you.

You can then use this prompt:

Dear ChatGPT, you have now written 14 Amazon bullet points for me.
Which 5 of these 14 bullet points (based on the Amazon review data) do you think will best convince buyers to choose our product over that of the competitor.

Give me these 5 bullet points.

By using the above prompt, you get bullet points based on data and not on your own feeling. Ultimately, you have to make the choice yourself, which bullet points best fit your product. Additionally, you can of course also manually adjust the bullet points.

Tip: use the remaining bullet points to conduct A/B tests, for example.

If you're not completely satisfied with the 5 bullet points, you can re-enter them into ChatGPT and then use the following prompt:

Thank you for these 5 bullet points. Please write 5 new bullet points for me that are approximately the same as the bullet points below, but convince customers even more to purchase my product. Write in the most attractive way possible.

[Insert the 5 bullet points here]

In this way, you also have enough data to conduct A/B tests to see which of the bullet points ultimately works best.

Product description for Amazon.

Finally, we use the data from the reviews to create a good product description for Amazon. Keep in mind that when you have added A+ content, the product description is not visible. Nevertheless, it is important to have a good product description. Not only for sales on Amazon but also for your own website.

With the already available data from the previous steps, this is the simplest step to execute. For a good product description, enter the following prompt:

Based on the concise information I have provided about my [insert your product] and the thorough analysis of all Amazon reviews, I now request you to write an impressive product description for Amazon. This description should not only accurately reflect my [insert your product] but also convince consumers to choose my product over all other options from the competition. Pay attention to the following matters:

  1. The length of the product description should be between 1,900 and 2,000 characters.

The total length of the Amazon product description must not be less than 1,900 characters.

The total length of the Amazon product description must not exceed 2,000 characters.

  1. Repeatedly incorporate the following highly searched, relevant keywords into the description to contribute to optimal findability:

“[Insert the relevant keywords here]”

  1. The product description must really convince! Be catchy, playful, and seductive instead of boring, businesslike, and distant.

ChatGPT does not always seem to adhere to the minimum and maximum length of a written text, so we emphasize this once again in the prompt so that the product description meets Amazon's requirements.

Again, the same applies here, if you're not satisfied with the text, modify the prompt or ask ChatGPT for a new version. Make sure to use words that align with your brand or product.

Tip: if you're satisfied with your bullet points, product description, or title that ChatGPT has created, check for plagiarism on one of the free websites like www.duplichecker.com/en
So far, we haven't had any issues with this, but better safe than sorry!
